When Quinn Mallory (Jerry O’Connell) accidentally created an interdimensional portal machine in the pilot episode of the classic SYFY series Sliders (streaming now on Peacock), he couldn’t have anticipated what lay on the other side.

Throughout the following five years, Mallory and the other sliders traveled from one world to another, hoping that the next jump would lead them home. They encountered worlds where the Egyptian pharaohs still reigned, where the United States remained an English colony, where dinosaurs roamed the Earth, and where the Kromaggs, a brutal species, enslaved humanity. Each world had its own unique characteristics, some incredibly appealing, but none were their home.

The series concluded with a cliffhanger, leaving the fate of the sliders and Earth Prime uncertain. While there is debate about whether Mallory ever made it home, O’Connell insists that he did not. According to the series’ star, Quinn is still out there, persistently searching for his way back.

Jerry O’Connell says Sliders’ Quinn Mallory never got home

During press for the animated film Justice League VS Teen Titans in 2016, O’Connell revealed that the producer had discussed the possibility of addressing whether Quinn Mallory ever returned home. O’Connell expressed interest in exploring this further through an online petition or campaign.

Despite numerous petitions and campaigns, a Sliders reboot has not materialized. O’Connell, however, remains hopeful and believes that Quinn’s journey may continue.

What happened to Quinn Mallory in Sliders?

In the final season, Quinn and the sliders’ fate became complex. The series finale saw them stranded on a world with devoted fans, while Rembrandt returned home to battle the Kromaggs. By this point, the original Quinn Mallory had been replaced by an alternate version to keep the show running without O’Connell.

Although Quinn briefly returned home, he was unaware of it, as the sliders were quickly thrust into a new world before he could realize they were on Earth Prime.

Will Sliders ever return?

While the possibility of a Sliders revival remains, the show’s fate is uncertain. The cast has shown interest in returning, but development has been stalled for over a decade. If a reboot occurs, it may feature a mix of new and familiar characters, as suggested by series creator Tracy Tormé.

Until a definitive return is confirmed, the mystery of whether Quinn made it home or not remains unresolved. Viewers can choose to believe whichever version of reality they prefer.
