Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #1, by Marvel on 6/4/25, finds Miles Morales heading to EArth-6160 to find his missing sister. He may find more than he bargained for.
Is Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #1 Good?
Recap
When the Maker escaped Earth-616 to create his version of a utopian world, Earth-6160 was born. Before he departed, the Maker visited Miles Morales to offer him a chance to join him since they both hailed from the same universe. Miles declined the offer, but as with all things in Marvel, nothing lasts forever.
Plot Synopsis
In Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #1, we begin with Miles Morales considering the Maker’s offer and affirming he made the right call in rejecting it. After Miles puts his 11-month-old sister, Billie, to bed in a crib, Billie somehow gets out of the crib, walks over to the waste can, where Miles tossed the Maker’s “business card,” and activates the card to open a portal to Earth-6160. Miles instantly leaps after her, but their interdimensional leap lands them in separate spots on Earth-6160.
On Earth-6160, Peter and Richard swing around New York City (Wait, aren’t they supposed to be laying low to avoid Kingpin?) when they’re attacked by the newly-created Spot, empowered by a Tony Stark power cube. The Spiders have never encountered someone like Spot, so they don’t know what to do. Suddenly, Miles emerges from the interdimensional portal and captures Spot.
Miles quickly explains the existence of the multiverse, the existence of other Spider-Men (and Venom), and his quest to find his infant sister, Billie. The Spiders swing from building to building, looking for the infant but eventually conclude that Billie isn’t in the city.
Meanwhile, the interdimensional portal responsible for Miles’s appearance alerts everyone on the Maker’s Council and the Ultimate Avengers that the Maker’s technology is in use, sparking questions that the Maker may have escaped his prison early. The issue ends with Spot escaping capture and Captain America sending Ant-Man and the Wasp to intercept Miles.
First Impressions
Clunky. Deniz Camp and Cody Ziglar concoct a clunky excuse to get Miles into the Ultimate Universe, and it’s about what you would expect – a wholly sloppy, forgettable, and pointless comic.
How’s the Art?
Jonas Scharf, who we most recently saw in Conan: Battle of the Black Stone at Titan Comics, brings his A-Game to present multiple Spider-Men (Spider-Mans?) in action, swinging through NYC, battling a new villain (New for Earth-6160), interacting with the public, and running into trouble. Scharf earns credit for greatly elevating the written material.
What’s great about Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #1?
Deniz Camp and Cody Ziglar craft a likable, almost charming rapport between Miles and his Ultimate counterparts that verges on amusing. Young Richard is instantly enamored with Miles as the cooler older brother in this family of Spiders, which could make for interesting team-ups in the future. The plot is a wreck, but the character interactions are lighthearted fun.
What’s not great about Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #1?
Again, the plot is a wreck. It’s as if Marvel asked Camp and Ziglar to get Miles into Earth-6160 without worrying about consistency, continuity, or setup. Sadly, the problems begin almost immediately.
How is an 11-month-old infant able to climb out of a crib, “walk” over to a wastebasket, and activate a business card that turns into an interdimensional portal? When brother and sister tumble through the tunnel between dimensions, why didn’t Miles immediately attempt to web her to create a tether? She’s not that far away.
Why on Earth(-6160) would Tony Stark create a power cube to recreate the powerset of the dangerous villain known as Spot? Yes, of course, the writers are going for synergy with the animated film, but there’s no explanation given, and even your headcanon refuses to create a plausible excuse.
How or why did Miles and his Spider-Cohorts think that going door-to-door around NYC would be the best way to spend their time looking for Billie? Peter Parker knows Tony Stark. Wouldn’t it make sense for Peter to reach out to the one person who could help? As a backup, wouldn’t Peter at least contact Otto Octavius for tech assistance?
Speaking of Peter (and Richard), what are they doing swinging around NYC and peeping in people’s windows when they’re on the run from the Sinister Six? Harry Osborn called Peter to come back at the end of the last issue of Ultimate Spider-Man, but that has nothing to do with making public appearances. The whole reason the Parker family fled was to escape danger, so why are they inviting the same danger that caused them to flee in the first place?
In effect, Camp and Ziglar came up with a lazy excuse to get Miles into the mix, threw in some poorly-explained fan service with Spot, and instigated a quest that makes little sense for what’s happening in the Ultimate Spider-Man title. I wish I could say I was surprised, but I’m not.

Final Thoughts
Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #1 is a clunky, lazy, poorly conceived issue designed to get Miles into the Ultimate Universe. Deniz Camp and Cody Ziglar capture an amusing bit of charm in the interactions between Miles, Peter, and Richard, but the plot is a mess. The next issue may get better, but it’s a skip for now.
