James Gunn has addressed a recent comment made by Margot Robbie about her future as Harley Quinn, and offers hope she may return.
Earlier this week, in a profile from Variety, Robbie was asked about her appearing again as Harley. “I always wanted Harley to be a character that would get passed on to other actresses to play, the way there are so many iconic male characters. That was always the dream for her,” replied Robbie. She went on to add, “Harley’s so fun and can go in so many different directions. You put her in someone else’s hands, and it’s like, “What are they going to do with her?” The options are endless.”
Gunn was asked on Threads about the quote, to which he replied, “I haven’t talked to Margot about Harley for a long time.”. He went on to add, “But I’d love to work with her again as Harley or as someone else. There are no plans at this time for anyone else to play Harley (I mean, other than in Todd’s movie or the animated show/s.)”
As with anything at this stage, until something is officially announced, there is a long way to go. Will we see Robbie as Harley again? Only time will tell for sure.
We will next see the character being portrayed by Lady Gaga in Joker: Folie à Deux in October.
