Here’s a preview of upcoming new books (excluding Marvel) for January. Check out the Marvel Highlights separately.
Dark Horse Books:
– “Monsters Are My Business (And Business is Bloody) #1” by Cullen Bunn is usually entertaining and worth picking up. Hopefully, it remains a single cover issue #1 series.
– “Operation Sunshine: Already Dead #1” might be fun. Unlike the Bunn title, this one has multiple variants available.
– “Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures–Saber for Hire #1” is a new Star Wars title with speculative potential. Definitely worth checking out.
Image Comics:
– “Feral #1 (Cover A – Forstner & Fleecs)” is from the creators of Stray Dogs, this time featuring cats. It may not have the same speculative success as Stray Dogs, but fans of the previous series will likely be interested. There are multiple variants available.
– “Napalm Lullaby #1 (Cover A – Bengal)” is a new Remender title that usually results in a decent read. It may gain more demand if interest increases. There are several ratio variants and multiple 10-copy, 25-copy variants available.
– “Under York #1 (of 6)” is worth checking out for Mirka Andolfo’s art. Unlike many Image titles, this one only has one cover.
Indies:
– “Animal Warriors of the Kingdom #1 (of 5) (Cover A – Prastha)” seems like an entertaining read with appealing art. The Gorillaz Homage variant is also cool.
– “Bristlemouth Cove Horror #1 (of 4)” may be overlooked by many shops, but these truly small independent comics often surprise with great stories and art.
– “Choco Leche #1 (Cover A – Lee Harris)” might draw in readers who aren’t usually interested in Scout books. It looks fun.
– “Little Black Book #1 (of 4) (Cover A – Francavilla)” caught attention for its western theme. The Francavilla regular cover is a bonus.
– “Mans Best #1 (of 5) (Cover A – Lonergan)” stands out for its art style, and hopefully, the story is equally good. There are several variant covers available.
– “The First Americans #1 (of 8)” is a new title about early tribes in America, which is interesting for fans of this genre.
– “White Boat #1 (Cover A – Francavilla)” features interior artwork by Francavilla, which is always a treat. Hopefully, Snyder delivers a great story. There are several variant covers available.
DC Comics:
– “Detective Comics #1083 (Cover C – Kelley Jones Card Stock Variant)” is a simple yet appealing Jones cover.
– “Green Arrow #10 (of 12) (Cover B – Jorge Fornes Card Stock Variant)” has a total Aja style cover.
Additionally, there is interest in the “Judge Dredd a Penitent Man TPB” for fans of gritty noir style comics and the “Replay Memoir of an Uprooted Family GN” for fans of Nazi war era stories.
