X-Men collectibles are expected to have a successful year in 2024, coinciding with the release of new Marvel media focused on the X-Men. Diamond Select Toys (DST) is also joining in on the X-Men love with two out of their three new Marvel collectibles for the month being X-Men themed. These include the Marvel Gallery 90s Wolverine PVC, X-Men Animated Morph bust, and Spider-Man 2 Gallery Miles Morales statue, all of which are available for order now.
Due to the absence of recent conventions or events, I was curious to see what DST had in store for this round of product releases. Although DST’s popular Marvel line (Marvel Select) and my personal favorites (Skottie Young Marvel Animated and Legends in 3D 1:2 busts) are not featured this month, I believe DST has still presented a trio of items that will be well-received by fans.
The most notable new collectible is the 1990s Wolverine Gallery figure/statue. This is the second Tiger Stripe Wolverine PVC in the long-running series, but it is the first unmasked and battle-damaged version. It reminds me of the first Toybiz Battle-Damaged Wolverine figure from the 90s, which holds sentimental value for me. The figure comes with a Savage Land-like Jungle Base and is priced under $60, making it a good value for a unique 11″ figure. Fans who prefer unmasked Logan will likely appreciate this addition.
Continuing with the X-Men theme, DST has also introduced the first-ever resin product of Morph in the form of the X-Men Animated Morph mini bust. The X-Men TAS busts line has exceeded expectations by including guest stars like Apocalypse, Psylocke, and Mystique. Now, they have released the last member of the original team from the show. As someone who loved Morph as a kid and owned his Toybiz action figure, I am delighted to add a resin bust of him to my collection. The bust features a change-o-head feature, allowing collectors to display either normal Morph or evil Morph with raccoon eyes. It’s worth mentioning that this bust is limited to 2000 pieces, a departure from the previous editions’ limit of 3000. It remains to be seen if this change will be standard going forward or exclusive to Morph.
Shifting away from mutants, DST introduces the GamerVerse Gallery Miles Morales statue based on the popular PS5 game Spider-Man 2. This 10″ PVC figure depicts Miles dynamically leaping over a terrain base covered with crawling symbiote oozes. The combination of smoke, symbiote goop, electrical effects, and debris on the base creates a sense of dynamic motion, effectively representing the action-packed game. However, the additional features come at an extra cost, increasing the price by $20 above the standard Gallery MSRP. Despite this, priced just below $80, I still believe it offers fair value for collectors. Overall, it is a visually appealing diorama.
The Marvel Gallery Wolverine 90s statue, Spider-Man 2 Gallery Miles Morales diorama, and Morph X-Men Animated bust are all available for pre-order now, with a scheduled release in Q4 2024. Out of the three, only Morph is a limited edition. Will you be adding any of these new DST Marvel collectibles to your collection? Do you think the X-Men Animated busts line is losing momentum, or would you like to see more characters added in the future?
