While DC isn’t celebrating with any specials or collections, they have given us a wonderful gift: weekly releases of a new Joker story. My love for the Clown Prince of Crime has consumed me, leaving no room for romance. Upcoming Comics Batman #143 continues the terrifying tale of “The Joker Year One,” as a mysterious figure from Batman’s past enters Joker’s world and changes him forever. The re-formed Red Hood Gang also holds secrets for Batman’s future. Red Hood: The Hill #1 takes us to the Hill, a dangerous suburb of Gotham that is undergoing gentrification. Strike, a vigilante, works with her team to keep the town safe, with the help of Jason Todd, the newest resident who becomes Red Hood. However, a new villain emerges, putting their home at risk. Batman and Robin #6 sees Bruce and Damian working together to stop a deadly killer on a soccer field. The mystery of Shush deepens, and Damian is confronted with his past, which tempts him to leave his father and Gotham. Batman: City of Madness #3 reveals the terrible origin of the Gotham Below and those responsible for protecting its secrets. Batman and Talon fight their way through the underground city’s villains to rescue Jevony, but saving him may be impossible. In Outsiders #4, the team heads into the strange shadows of London’s underground to uncover the truth behind a new crisis. Beyond the Bat takes a quick look at the other DC comics coming out this week, and Graphic Novel Watch highlights bat collections being released. In terms of excitement, Batman: City of Madness #3 is highly anticipated, while Batman #143 leaves little confidence for improvement. Red Hood: The Hill #1 presents a chance for a fresh start.
