Hisuian Voltorb is set to make an appearance in the game this week.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s upcoming in-game event will showcase a surprising Pokemon not typically found in the game. Recently, The Pokemon Company revealed a new Mass Outbreak event for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that will highlight Pokemon species resembling Poke Balls. Voltorb and Foongus will be featured in the event, along with a “mystery Pokemon” that clearly resembles a Hisuian Voltorb. During the event, which will take place from February 23rd to February 27th, all three species will have an increased chance of appearing as Shiny Pokemon.
Hisuian Voltorb is a regional variant of Voltorb that first appeared in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. This Electric/Grass-type Pokemon resembles the handmade Poke Balls seen in the Pokemon game, but with the distinction of existing long before the invention of the Poke Ball. Despite its explosive tendencies and ability to release massive electric discharges, the Hisuian Voltorb is known for its more amiable and friendly nature compared to its Kantonian counterpart.
The addition of Hisuian Voltorb continues the trend of incorporating Pokemon from Pokemon Legends: Arceus into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Previous additions include Ursaluna (specifically the Bloodmoon Ursaluna variant) and Basculegion in the first DLC pack, as well as Overqwil and Kleavor in the second DLC pack. While some Pokemon species from Pokemon Legends: Arceus can be transferred into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, they are not currently catchable in the newer game.
Pokemon has announced a Pokemon Presents event on February 27th, coinciding with Pokemon Day celebrations. There is much speculation among fans about the potential announcement of a new Pokemon game, with many anticipating either a Gen 5 remake or a connection to the Gen 2 games.
