Theories abound after the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer drop, and it’s fueling the speculative fires around one of the Merc with a Mouth’s most popular comics.
Love or hate Marvel Studios, they have mastered the art of the tantalizing trailer. Of course, there’s plenty of movies that had amazing previews only for the full movie to fall flat. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s initial footage had an epic, serious tone that was not indicative of what we saw in the actual film. At least in regards to Deadpool, we have a good idea of what we’re getting into: lots of one-liners, slapstick, and gratuitous, cartoony violence. However, this won’t be just another Deadpool entry.
The Super Bowl trailer confirmed that Wade Wilson will be abducted/recruited by Loki’s Time Variance Authority. He’s then tasked with repairing the fractured MCU timeline. True to character, Deadpool even acknowledges that it’s part of a cinematic universe.
Although there’s still so much we don’t know about the film’s plot, online theorists predict that Deadpool will go on more of a killing spree than an adventure through the MCU Multiverse and beyond. It’s that idea that has led collectors to 2011’s Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe #1. As the title suggests, the four-issue series sees Wade on a murderous rampage, taking out Marvel’s most popular heroes in hilarious fashion. That is precisely what fans anticipate will happen in Deadpool & Wolverine, hence the uptick in DKMU #1.
In the market for a near-mint 9.8 to call your own? The last one to trade hands online brought $215 on February 4. Two and a half weeks later, a high-grade raw copy sold for $125 on eBay. However, that could be an outlier as other raw copies earned closer to the $50-$60 range.
While you are scouring the auction sites for DKMU #1, be on the lookout for the second print. In today’s marketplace, the subsidiary print runs can turn into large profits. Just last year, a graded 9.8 second print sold for a high of $159. If the FOMO effect kicks in, it could eclipse that mark when the movie debuts.
