Shortly after the announcement of Nicolas Cage starring in his own live-action Spider-Verse series on Amazon, news has surfaced that Amazon’s previously planned series, Silk: Spider Society, has been canceled.
According to multiple reports, the show, which had been in development for five years and greenlit two years ago, will no longer move forward. Deadline reported that the decision was made just a few days ago.
Angela Kang, who was set to bring the series to life on screen, still has her overall deal with Amazon but will now focus on other projects.
Amazon’s plan to adapt various Spider-Verse characters into live-action shows is still in place but seems to be taking a more focused approach.
Now, the rights to the character Silk will return to the lead studio Sony Pictures Television, who will try to sell it to other potential buyers.

Silk is a Korean American superhero featured in Marvel Comics. Cindy Moon, also known as Silk, made her first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #1 (April 2014) and was created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos. She was part of the Spider-Army/Web-Warriors and Agents of Atlas.
This series will be one of the first to showcase a Korean-American superhero as the lead. Lord and Miller have a deal with Sony to oversee future Spider-Man projects with Sony, Marvel, Amazon, and MGM+.
