The Pokemon XY player known only as Amanda, who remained online after the shutdown of the 3DS and Wii U servers, has a final message to share in memory.
Amanda managed to stay connected for an impressive 28 days, 23 hours, and 30 minutes on the Pokemon XY Nintendo Network servers after they were shut down by Nintendo. She has some words to share about the whole experience. Joziken, part of the “Elite Four of the Nintendo Network” and one of the last remaining Pokemon players on the 3DS and Wii U servers, shared Amanda’s final message with the public.
“I want to express my gratitude to all those who supported me during the past month while I stayed online. I never expected to be the last Pokemon player on the Nintendo Network, but it happened,” Amanda says. “The support I received from people online and the Nintendo Network After Hours server was crucial in helping me endure, especially during moments when I almost disconnected out of fear of damaging my 3DS.”

Dedicated Nintendo fans have been holding on to the 3DS and Wii U servers since they were shut down at the beginning of April. Although Amanda managed to last almost a month, she eventually disconnected from the Pokemon XY servers earlier this month. Currently, only three known players remain after losing one in the game Xenoblade Chronicles. It’s uncertain when they will have to say goodbye to the 3DS and Wii U servers like everyone else.
“It’s the end of an era, and to everyone who was there in the final days, I thank you. And for those who engaged in Wonder Trading on that first day after, cherish those last trades as I will,” Amanda adds. “With the last Mario Kart 7 races unable to happen, the 3DS era of Nintendo Online has officially come to an end. Rest in Peace, Nintendo Network, you will be missed.”
Amanda expresses hope that the Nintendo Network will return in some form in the future, but in the meantime, she encourages everyone to continue enjoying themselves even without the online service. It’s a fitting tribute to a platform that brought so many cherished memories that are now lost to modernity.
