The Superman cast has grown again as Saturday Night Live alum Beck Bennett signs on to play Daily Planet reporter Steve Lombard.
Originally reported by The Hollywood Reporter – and later confirmed by James Gunn – Bennet will be playing Lombard. The character was originally introduced in Superman #264 in 1973. He was originally created as an adversary for Clark Kent’s friendly workplace demeanor.
Bennett is best known for his tenure on Saturday Night Live which saw him as a member of the cast from 2013 to 2021. He most recently appeared in Unfrosted for Netflix.
The majority of Superman filming has been happening in Atlanta, Georgia, with some earlier filming having taken place in Norway. Currently, the crews are in LaGrange, Georgia, which is standing in for Smallville, Kansas.
The cast is set to include David Corenswet as Superman, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. They will all be joined by Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, and María Gabriela de Faría as the Engineer.
Superman will hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
