Netflix has revealed the main cast for Terminator Zero, the new anime coming to the streaming service on Judgment Day. Rosario Dawson, known for her role as Ahsoka, will portray Kokoro, an advanced AI and Japan’s equivalent of Skynet.
Joining her in the Production IG animation is Andre Holland from Moonlight, who will play Malcolm Lee, a brilliant computer programmer haunted by visions of a post-apocalyptic future. Sonoya Mizuno from House of the Dragon will take on the role of resistance fighter Eiko, sent back in time from 2022 to prevent Malcolm from launching Kokoro.
Ann Dowd will play The Prophet, a wise guide for the human resistance, adding a sense of unease given her past roles in dystopian shows. The cast will also face off against Timothy Olyphant’s Terminator, sent back to eliminate Malcolm in 1997, the year of Judgment Day.
Terminator Zero is scheduled to premiere on August 29, marking the day Skynet became self-aware in the Terminator universe.
Aside from Terminator Zero, Netflix has more anime in store for viewers. Arcane season 2 premieres in November, and Dandadan will be available on Netflix in October before a surprise theatrical release. An animated Tomb Raider series, The Legend of Lara Croft, starring Hayley Atwell, will also debut on October 10.
