Spoilers ahead for Blood Hunt #4
Blood Hunt #4, written by Jed MacKay, illustrated by Pepe Larraz, colored by Marte Gracia, and lettered by Cory Petit, picks up from the previous issue with the Atlantean “Temple of the First Blasphemy” emerging in New York to strengthen Blade and his vampire army’s dominance.
As the situation becomes more dire for the Marvel Universe heroes, Doctor Strange and Clea turn to Doctor Doom for help in dispelling the Darkforce barrier blocking out the sun.
Meanwhile, Blade at the Temple of the First Blasphemy is revealed to be possessed by Varnae, the first vampire in Marvel’s history, explaining Blade’s erratic behavior but leaving many questions unanswered.
Inside the Temple, it is discovered that Black Panther’s vampirism has been nearly cured by the Heart-Shaped Herb, enabling him to free Thor to confront Blade and his forces.
Elsewhere, in Asgard, Tigra and Hunter’s Moon, with the help of the Wrecker and his enchanted crowbar, break Khonshu out of prison to bring forth the moon through the Darkforce, the first step in Earth’s liberation.
Doctor Doom agrees to aid Strange and Clea in destroying the Darkforce barrier, with the assistance of the Strange Academy students. However, Doom demands the title of Sorcerer Supreme in exchange for his help, a request that could have significant consequences.
As Marc Spector, the Moon Knight, is resurrected by Khonshu, the heroes gain a powerful ally in their fight against the vampires. The events of Blood Hunt lead to the upcoming release of Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #0 and #1, setting the stage for Marc’s return in October.
For more on Marc’s role in the finale of Blood Hunt, stay tuned for Blood Hunt #5 on July 31.
Moon Knight remains one of the most compelling supernatural superheroes in the Marvel Universe.
