Capcom has officially announced that a new Resident Evil game is in the works.
Resident Evil is a beloved franchise by Capcom, and fans can expect a new installment as we are three years past the latest mainline release and over a year since the last entry in the REmake series.
In a recent Capcom Next Summer 2024 livestream, Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed the news, stating, “We’re making a new Resident Evil. It was really difficult to figure out what to do after 7. But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial. I can’t share any details just yet, but I hope you’re excited for the day I can.”
Nakanishi also discussed the origins of Resident Evil 7, emphasizing the focus on terrifying players, which was a refreshing change from the more action-oriented previous entries in the series.
Speculation about Resident Evil 9 has been ongoing, with rumors suggesting it may continue the story of Resident Evil Village and the Winters family. However, without any official confirmation from Capcom, details remain uncertain.
