After five years in early access, Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic has finally fully launched to widespread acclaim.
The game challenges players to transform “an impoverished country into a rich industrial superpower” using intricate production chains and a fully simulated global economy. Developer 3Division and publisher Hooded Horde have packed the game with various micro-managerial systems including construction, transportation, trade, healthcare, education, entertainment, tourism, citizen loyalty, farming, and more as you work towards a communist utopia.
With a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam based on almost 15,000 user reviews, Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic has garnered praise for its deep and realistic city-building systems. Players have compared it favorably to Cities: Skylines, with one user calling it “THE most comprehensive city builder there is.” Another user shared how the game helped them understand their own hometown better.
Despite a setback caused by DMCA claims, the game’s 1.0 update introduces new entertainment facilities, graphical improvements, and quality of life fixes. The new Biomes DLC adds three new biomes for players to explore.
