Destiny 2 servers are currently offline in preparation for the release of The Final Shape. The developers have a message for players gearing up for the campaign: it might be a good time to take your Guardian’s helmet off this time around.
Cinematics director Jimmie Myers shared on Twitter, “Btw, if you choose to set your guardian to ‘helmet off’, you can see your newly customized face animated in a bunch of the cinematics in The Final Shape. Your call! But wanted you to know it’s an option.”
Destiny 2 now offers the ability to customize your Guardian’s appearance whenever you want. If you’ve been using helmets to avoid looking at your character’s face that you regret creating years ago, now is your chance to change it. While there haven’t been major changes to facial appearances in the expansion, this new customization option may entice some players to reveal their character’s face in cutscenes again.
Myers emphasized that helmet-off cutscenes are a priority at Bungie. “Sometimes there are complicated reasons we can’t,” Myers explained, “but we almost always put in the extra work for both options.”
If you’ve managed to avoid spoilers, it’s recommended to steer clear of any potential leaks leading up to The Final Shape. Bungie previously warned about spoilers circulating online following a leak from a PS5 stream.
