The veteran developers of Destiny 2 have addressed the challenges new players face when entering the MMO, and how Bungie has worked to overcome these obstacles leading up to the launch of The Final Shape.
The Final Shape expansion for Destiny 2 is set to launch today, June 4, and to mark the occasion, Destiny Vice President Mark Noseworthy has shared a series of tweets. In his tweets, Noseworthy highlights the efforts Bungie has made over the past few years to make Destiny more accessible to new players and remove barriers to entry.
Noseworthy mentions that new players can skip the New Light introductory campaign if they are familiar with shooters or already know about Destiny. He also points out features like Fireteam Power and Fireteam Finder, which allow new players to join their veteran friends and find other players to participate in Raids with. The Final Shape expansion will reset all players’ Power levels, ensuring that everyone starts on equal footing.
Destiny Executive Creative Director Luke Smith also shared his thoughts on The Final Shape’s launch, expressing gratitude to veteran players who have been with the game since its launch in 2014. He hopes that players will enjoy their time with the game and encourages them to “make your own fate.”
As players wait for The Final Shape to launch, one developer recommends experiencing the new cinematic animations without the helmet on for a different perspective.
