Atlus has confirmed that they will be removing the original version of Shin Megami Tensei 5 and its DLC from the Nintendo Switch eShop next month. This decision comes as the upcoming definitive version, Vengeance, is set to be released. This move is quite unusual for the company.
Shin Megami Tensei 5, a Switch-exclusive JRPG released in 2021, will see its definitive version, Vengeance, available on multiple platforms including PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Vengeance will come with enhancements to the battle system, new areas, demons, and more, making it the ultimate way to experience the JRPG. While it may seem odd to remove the original version from the eShop, the additional content in Vengeance is likely to attract new players.

Unlike Atlus’ handling of Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal, where both versions are available for purchase, Shin Megami Tensei 5 will be delisted once Vengeance is released. However, players who already own the original version will still be able to redownload it and its DLC in the future.
The original version of Shin Megami Tensei 5 will be removed from the eShop on June 14, coinciding with the release of Vengeance. Fans who want to experience both versions will need to act before the delisting date. The removal also avoids a clash with the release of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
