The Batman: Arkham Shadow trailer has arrived showing off the new adventure against the Rat King coming this fall.
Batman: Arkham Shadow is an upcoming virtual reality Batman game, and latest entry in the acclaimed Batman: Arkham video game series. From its announcement in May, we know that it will be exclusive to the Meta Quest 3 VR headset and will be developed by Oculus Studios and VR developer Camouflaj instead of the franchise’s traditional studio Rocksteady.
Premiering at this year’s Summer Game Fest, the new story trailer gives us our first look at the details of what the game will be about. Its opening depicts a Gotham City overtaken by riots and flames. According to Batman’s narration (voiced by Roger Craig Smith, returning to the role from Batman: Arkham Origins) the culprit is a villain known as “the Rat King”. It’s unknown if this is the same character as the Batman villain Ratcatcher (AKA Otis Flannegan), but the panic he’s caused in the streets has both Batman and the GCPD trying to track him down. In addition to the Rat King, villains Harley Quinn and Scarecrow seem to appear in the trailer, indicating they’ll play a role in the story as well.
It’s the Fourth of July, and Gotham City is under attack by a new threat: the mysterious Rat King and his cultish devotees. As widespread rioting engulfs the city, Batman races to prevent this so-called “Day of Wrath,” but it all goes wrong.
Batman: Arkham Shadow is scheduled to release this Fall.
