It looks as though Hellboy isn’t the only comic book character with a game set to release this October that’s now subject to a delay.
In August, Batman: Arkham Trilogy, a compilation that brings all 3 of the Rocksteady Studios developed Arkham games to Nintendo’s hardware, was given a release date of October 13th. Today, the news came out via various social media accounts for the project that the collection was pushed back over a month-and-a-half to December 1st.
The reason cited for the delay according to the post on official channels is that more time is needed to make Batman: Arkham Trilogy the best possible experience on Nintendo Switch. Though that very well could be the primary reason, another could be the stiff competition that we spoke about in our piece about Hellboy: Web of Wyrd getting bumped to the 18th. The three games that make up Batman: Arkham Trilogy are among the best comic book games ever crafted, but they’re not exactly new either. October and November are absolutely packed with new releases and all of them are competing for the hard earned money in your wallet.
December is not a great time to release a game – it certainly didn’t do Marvel’s Midnight Suns any favors last year around the same time – but it’s also a less crowded time to put out a product that’s potentially new to the Nintendo faithful, or for those who just want to experience the Arkham series while travelling during the holidays. Hopefully Batman: Arkham Trilogy will arrive in the best possible state whenever it lands.
Batman: Arkham Trilogy now arrives December 1st, 2023 exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
