Diablo 4 Season 5 introduces new endgame content with Infernal Hordes.
Next week, Diablo 4 will kick off its fifth season, bringing a plethora of new content for players to enjoy. Season 5 offers something for everyone, while also setting the stage for Diablo 4’s upcoming expansion, The Vessel of Hatred, scheduled for release in October. This makes Season 5 the final update before players get their hands on the new Spiritborn class. To make the season even more exciting, Blizzard is adding over 50 new Unique and Legendary items for players to collect. And to ensure players have a good way to earn these items, a new endgame mode called “Infernal Hordes” is being introduced in Season 5.
The Infernal Hordes mechanic is not just a temporary addition for Season 5. Unlike previous season changes, this mechanic will be available on both Seasonal and Eternal realms once players reach World Tier III. Players will need to complete a quest to unlock this feature, after which they can dive into the Infernal Realms solo or with a group. This mode is described by Blizzard as a wave-based feature where players can battle demons in large numbers. Players will need to strategize carefully as they have limited revives before being removed from the mode.
Infernal Hordes also incorporates roguelike elements with Infernal Offers, allowing players to increase the difficulty for better rewards. Each wave lasts only 60 seconds, requiring players to act quickly to progress through the ranks. By defeating each horde, players earn Burning Aether, which can be spent for additional rewards after successfully clearing an Infernal Horde and defeating the Fell Council. To access new Infernal Hordes, players must craft an Infernal Compass ranging from Tier 1 to 8 to discover the best rewards.
Diablo 4 is currently available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. Season 5 launches on August 6th, leading up to the release of Vessel of Hatred on October 8th.
