EA has added several classic games to Steam today, filling in some gaps that fans have been waiting for. While individually these games may not stand out, the fact that they were all added at once is significant. Additionally, they are currently on sale, adding to the excitement. The reason behind this sudden addition is unknown, and neither EA nor Valve has provided any official statement on the matter.
The newly added games include The Saboteur, Populous, Populous: The Beginning, Populous II: Trials of the Olympian Gods, Dungeon Keeper 2, and Command & Conquer and The Covert Operations. Interestingly, Command & Conquer and The Covert Operations is listed on Steam but cannot be purchased, adding to the mystery of the situation.
One standout title among the added games is The Saboteur, which was previously limited to PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles. Its availability on PC through Steam opens up new possibilities for players who may not have had access to the game before.
It is worth noting that none of the games mention compatibility with the Steam Deck, suggesting that they may not be fully functional on the device. It is unlikely that EA will invest resources into optimizing the games for the Steam Deck.
As the story develops, we will provide updates if EA or Valve release any information regarding the addition of these games. It is possible that this could be a mistake and the games may be removed from Steam in the future, but the simultaneous release of multiple titles hints at a deliberate decision.
