It’s that time of year again folks! For those who don’t know, the Eisner Awards are hosted yearly to recognize the best and brightest in the comic book industry and to recognise their outstanding achievements. These achievements include Best One-Shot, Best Continuing Series and Best Writer, as well as Best Cover Artist and Best Lettering. This year, the DC-related nominations are led by Nightwing and Birds of Prey with three nominations and Shazam! with four.
Nightwing has been nominated for Best Single Issue for #105, Best Continuing Series, and Best Writer for Tom Taylor for his work on this series and Titans. Birds of Prey nets its nominations in the Best Continuing Series, Best Writer and Best Coloring where Kelly Thompson and Jordie Bellaire were nominated respectively. Finally, Shazam! is nominated for Best Continuing Series, Best Writer, Best Penciller/Inker or Penciller/Inker Team and Best Cover Artist, with Mark Waid and Dan Mora being nominated in their respective categories. Other Batman-adjacent nominations include G. Willow Wilson (Poison Ivy) for Best Writer, Jason Shawn Alexander (Detective Comics) for Best Penciller/Inker or Penciller/Inker Team, Jen Bartel (DC Pride 2023, Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville #1) for Best Cover Artist and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou (Batman: City of Madness, Poison Ivy) for Best Lettering. Oh, and Evan Cagle (Detective Comics) for Best Cover Artist, giving DC, in total, 13 nominations, plus another 8 shared.
Eligible parties can apply to vote through this link by the May 30th. Voting takes place through June 6th, and the awards will be presented at San Diego Comic-Con on June 26th.
