Top 5 TV Show Characters That Broke the Internet
First Appearances, Gold Tiger, Chaos, and MORE this NCBD 4-23-25.
Batman #159 is bringing you more Hush 2 action, and yes, Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee are still trying to rip your heart out. After last issue’s jaw-dropping cliffhanger, Batman has to make a decision tougher than choosing between his favorite brooding rooftop or that fancy new Batmobile. Joining him to make things extra complicated are Nightwing, Batgirl, and Red Hood. Speculators, prepare your wallets because whenever Jim Lee touches Batman, there’s always a collectible hidden gem buried in there somewhere.
Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Heart—ah, yes, it’s the return of everyone’s favorite environmentally conscious superhero crew in Captain Planet #1. Writer David Pepose—yeah, the guy behind Space Ghost, Savage Avengers, and a bunch of other comics you’re probably already hoarding—joins artist Eman Cassallos to summon Captain Planet for a modern twist. This time, Gaia’s been snatched away, forcing the Planeteers to team up against Lucian Plunder’s new villainous coalition. Can they trust each other enough to call down Captain Planet without turning into an after-school special disaster? Featuring connecting covers by Jae Lee (across the first six issues!), Mark Spears, Ben Oliver, and Christian Ward. Collectors take note, first appearances and revamped origin stories usually equal serious comic shop chaos.
Speaking of chaos, Harley’s back in Harley Quinn #50, and she’s brought along the Gunbuddies. Yes, they’re as disturbingly adorable as they sound—friends who really, really like guns. Amid assassination attempts and a pesky neighborhood party committee, Harley’s brain might literally explode, but hey, at least it’ll be funny, right? You never know which new Harley side-character will explode into popularity, so don’t sleep on this oversized 50th issue—trust me, your comic box and future eBay sales will thank you.
Then there’s Superman #25, the issue that’s basically throwing a going-away party for two years’ worth of Superman drama. Lex Luthor is back—without the memory wipe this time, and he’s aiming straight at Supercorp. Superman and Superwoman barely had time to breathe after battles with Doomsday and Time Trapper, and now Lex is back stirring trouble. If you’re into speculation, remember this oversized issue connects to the Summer of Superman event and sets up future arcs. Speculative warning: oversized issues like this often sneak in key appearances, so proceed with caution—your wallet might not survive. In The Flash #20, a new event titled “Bad Moon Rising” kicks off, and it’s all-out lunacy. Literally. Wally West is splitting himself hundreds of times into an army of speedsters to battle Eclipso, who has claimed the moon as his personal evil lair. And you thought your multi-tasking skills were impressive. Collectors note: new forms, new villains, and significant changes to powersets always make for hot speculative commodities. Don’t get left behind at Flash speed.

Next up is Predator vs. Spider-Man #1, where NYC has a blackout-induced crime wave, and Spider-Man has bigger problems lurking beneath the sewers—a new Predator named “Skinner,” who apparently skipped Predator honor school. Ben Percy teams up with Marcelo Ferreira to bring you an unforgettable showdown that’s sure to spike collector interest, especially given how popular past Predator crossover comics became. Spider-fans and Predator-heads alike, get ready to stalk this comic—carefully, and preferably without alien weaponry. It’s time to celebrate 300 issues of X-Force #10. Forge’s team finally unveils “The Solution,” which sounds suspiciously ominous and vague. But hey, that’s what makes comics fun, right? This milestone issue promises new villains, nostalgic returns, and a major turning point that’ll make your comic collection feel validated for holding onto the other 299 issues. Plus, there’s a special anniversary story by Fabian Nicieza. Speculation alert: classified key appearances typically equal future price spikes. From Spawn’s twisted medieval era comes Medieval Spawn #1, a mini-series destined to finally give fans what they never knew they needed: the bloody past of Sir Jon of York. He’s slaying dragons, fighting wizards, and probably questioning his life choices as a Hellspawn. If you’re into Spawn’s rich mythology, don’t overlook this mini-series. These deep dives often uncover hidden lore that collectors and speculators love to debate. In Avengers #25, it’s a giant-sized spectacular to mark the debut of the all-new Masters of Evil. With Doom occupying Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, villains find the perfect moment to strike. Giant-size issues and new team debuts are like catnip for collectors looking for quick speculation pickups—just make sure you’re one of them. New Champions #4 gives you the origin of the new sensation, Gold Tiger, the Wakandan with literal Midas-level powers. Origin issues have a well-earned rep for becoming key issues later on. Ignore the cheerful demeanor at your speculative peril. Prepare yourself for 40 pages of chaotic cartoon nostalgia in Giant-Sized Wacky Races #1. Writer Ivan Cohen and rising artist Mariano Benitez-Chapo revive Penelope Pitstop, Dick Dastardly, and Muttley with fresh style and nonstop adrenaline. Nostalgia collectors beware, this is one-shot territory where future keys occasionally lurk.
