James Gunn has announced that Frank Grillo will reprise his role of Rick Flag Sr. throughout Peacemaker season 2.
Gunn took to social media on Friday to share an image of himself with Frank Grillo along with the announcement, “Pleased to announce the great @frankgrillo1 will be reprising the role of Rick Flag, Sr – the role he’ll first play in animated form in Creature Commandos – throughout Season 2 of #Peacemaker. Christopher Smith and Rick Sr have a little unfinished business to take care of…”
In case you haven’t seen The Suicide Squad, Smith AKA Peacemaker, killed Rick Flag Jr. It seems his fad may have something to say about that.
This is the first instance we’ve seen of Gunn’s promise that anyone originating a character in DCU animation would reprise the role in live-action. Grill will make his debut as Rick Flag Sr. in the upcoming Creature Commandos animated series.
Peacemaker season 2 recently began production. The cast will include returning actors John Cena as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, and Steve Agee as John Economos.
Gunn has also confirmed that season 2 is set in the new DCU and not the old DCEU. How this will be addressed, if at all, has not yet been revealed.
No release date has been announced for Peacemaker season 2.
