The next RPG from Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse is set to release in just over a month.
In a press release, the studio announced that Zenless Zone Zero will be available on July 4 on PlayStation, PC, and mobile devices. The game will feature cross-progression and cross-play, allowing players to enjoy the game with friends or continue their progress on different platforms.
The release date coincides with the launch of Final Fantasy 14’s Dawntrail expansion, but it also avoids competing directly with Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, which is a smart move by HoYoverse.
Zenless Zone Zero has already garnered 35 million global pre-registrations, just shy of its 40 million goal. This is a strong start considering Genshin Impact, the studio’s flagship title, received 10 million pre-registrations at launch. The hype surrounding Genshin Impact has likely contributed to the interest in Zenless Zone Zero.
The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where supernatural disasters known as ‘Hollows’ have devastated society. Players take on the role of a ‘Proxy’ guiding others through these challenges, uncovering the truth behind the chaos as they face enemies and complete missions.
Zenless Zone Zero offers familiar action RPG gameplay with added roguelike elements. Players navigate through dungeons filled with various challenges, including combat encounters, puzzles, and loot opportunities.
Although initial impressions of Zenless Zone Zero were mixed, there is hope that the full release will address any concerns. Players eager to dive into the game can look forward to claiming pre-registration rewards.
