Isabela Merced has discussed what the Hawkgirl casting process was like for Superman: Legacy.
Merced, 22, is in a career explosion at the moment. This week she has Madame Web hitting theaters, and she is scheduled for roles in Alien: Romulus, season 2 of The Last of Us, and she will begin filming her role as Hawkgirl in Superman: Legacy in March.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about her upcoming projects, Merced shared some info about the casting process for Hawkgirl.
“I was directed by [Gunn] during the [screen] test for [Superman: Legacy], because I auditioned for this. I got to do [the screen test] with my other castmates, and that was really cool. It felt very professional; it was almost like a legitimate shooting day,” Merced said. “So I’ve already learned so much about his process, and this man … has the best of the best working for him.”
The cast is set to include David Corenswet as Superman, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. They will all be joined by Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and María Gabriela de Faría as the Engineer.
Superman: Legacy will hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
