Legendary actor James Earl Jones passed away at the age of 93, leaving behind a massive legacy in film and television. He is well-known for several iconic roles, especially among sci-fi fans.
Aside from voicing Darth Vader in Star Wars, Jones also made a sneaky appearance in another beloved “Star” franchise: Stargate SG-1.
James Earl Jones’ Stargate SG-1 Cameo
Stargate SG-1 follows present day soldiers and explorers as they travel to other planets through the use of a device called the “Stargate.” In the show’s first season episode “Thor’s Hammer,” Jack O’Neill and Teal’c are teleported into an underground cave and encounter an alien creature controlled by a parasite alien, the Goa’uld. The voice work for the alien creature was provided by James Earl Jones.
Despite the disguised voice cameo, Jones’ unmistakable voice shone through. This connection to another major sci-fi franchise was a lesser-known aspect of his career.
Stargate SG-1 ran for 10 seasons from 1997-2007 and spawned two spinoff series, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe.
