While James Gunn may be in the process of filming Superman, he has another project coming up this year in the form of Peacemaker season 2.
There were a few pieces of new information over the weekend. The first was Jennifer Holland – who plays Emilia Harcourt in the series – replied to a fan on Instagram that the new season will film this summer. James Gunn, the writer of the series as well as Holland’s husband, later stated:
The source is kind of iffy but this is true. John Cena shared this on Howard Stern last week. To answer your follow-up questions: yes, we’ll be shooting Superman & Peacemaker simultaneously; yes, I’ve written all the episodes; but, no, in the interest of getting the show out there I won’t be able to direct them all (only some); & yes, Waller’s still happening & Jeremy & Christal are hard at work writing great stuff, but the schedule was impacted by the strikes so it’ll come after Peacemaker
Gunn also cleared up some timeline questions. Peacemaker season 2 will take place after the events of Superman, and events in that film will impact some of the things that happen in the TV series.
He also stated that season 1 is not canon to the DCU, but confirmed to a fan asking about some major events that have happened to the character, “Many strands will remain consistent, yes, insofar as Peacemaker’s story goes.”
We’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out, but it sounds as though Peacemaker will still be the buffoon we’ve all come to love. Now we just have to wait to see more of him.
