Simmons still has hope that one of his characters can find redemption.
Famed actor JK Simmons has been portraying a number of questionable fathers in his recent roles. From voicing Omni-Man/Nolan Grayson in Prime Video’s Invincible to playing the main antagonist Ketheric Thorm in Baldur’s Gate 3, Simmons has embodied many nefarious fictional fathers. In a recent interview with ComicBook.com to discuss Season 2 of Invincible, Simmons was asked to weigh in on who he believes is the worst dad between Omni-Man and Ketheric Thorm.
Simmons pointed out that since Invincible is still ongoing, Omni-Man’s character arc has not yet concluded. He expressed his belief that there is still a possibility for Omni-Man to redeem himself, making him potentially the lesser evil of the two. Simmons stated, “I think we’re in the middle of what we hope to be a much longer arc with Omni-Man. So obviously he’s not Fred MacMurray on My Three Sons, but I feel like there’s always the possibility of redemption. So I’m going to say the jury is still out, but I hope that Omni-Man would not win the Worst Dad competition when all is said and done.”
Simmons’ perspective on Omni-Man and Ketheric Thorm resonates with fans of Invincible. While Season 2 has started to delve into a different side of Omni-Man, his actions in Season 1 cannot be overlooked. On the other hand, Ketheric Thorm’s character was consumed by evil to a point where redemption seemed impossible. Hopefully, Omni-Man’s story will not end in a similar manner as the show progresses towards its conclusion.
Simmons continues to portray Omni-Man in Season 2 of Invincible, which is currently airing on Prime Video. Episode 6 of Season 2 is set to premiere on Thursday, March 21, followed by two more episodes in the subsequent weeks to wrap up this season. Season 3 is already in development, although Prime Video has not yet announced its release date.
