Marvel Legends Retro Series figures have been a huge hit with collectors, with releases from the X-Men to Spider-Man to the Fantastic Four to even Ghost Rider. With all that success with fans, it comes as no surprise that now Hasbro has opened orders for a full Marvel Legends Iron Man Retro Series, including She-Hulk, Count Nefaria, gold Original Iron Man and more!

Iron Man was not a character I had any interest in as a child, right up until Toybiz launched their 5” figure line that tied into the 90s Iron Man animated series. That cartoon series wasn’t the greatest, but it introduced me to characters like MODOK, Wonder Man, Blizzard, Century, Blacklash, Scarlet Witch and many others who I’d be reading about in comics numerous times over the years.
I have a real soft spot in my heart for that vintage Toybiz Iron Man packaging, so I’m tickled to see Hasbro homage it with the throwback cardbacks for this Retro series (even if my man Century didn’t make it into this set).
The headliner of this wave for most collectors, beyond any shadow of a doubt, is the new 2024 Marvel Legends She-Hulk. This She-Hulk Legends figure looks like she just popped off the cover of a late 80s John Byrne She-Hulk comic book and I love it. Some fans may complain that Shulkie feels awkward in this 90s Iron Man packaging, but she’s the figure I far and away like best in the wave, so I’m okay with it.
With the wavy 80s hair with green highlights in it to the crushed gun accessory to the gorgeous pin-free super-articulated body, this is simply the best She-Hulk Hasbro has ever done. Looking forward to the inevitable Fantastic Four costume repaint!
And speaking of inevitable repaints, we’ll be getting the Gold Iron Man Mark 1 armor in this set as well. This version was a veritable lock after the grey colorway last year, so I’m glad fans didn’t have to wait too long for it.
The 2023 Original Iron Man was priced slightly higher than a basic Marvel Legends figure, so this is a rare instance where the later repaint is actually a couple bucks cheaper. This is a fun, bulky figure that I think will sell well in its more popular color. Love that retro Tony Stark head!
Marvel Legends Count Nefaria is another character I doubt many expected to be getting this year, and likely to be a head-scratcher for the non-hardcore (who might mistake him for Black Tom Cassidy). Madame Masque’s father has fought Iron Man a multitude of times in the comics, but it’s no doubt Nefaria feels a bit out of place in the 90s Toybiz packaging.
