Last week, Hasbro celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Wolverine by releasing new 6″ figures of Lady Mandarin Psylocke and Ninja Wolverine. This week, they are opening up pre-orders for a two-pack featuring another Chris Claremont Wolverine classic: Marvel Legends Patch and Joe Fixit. These characters have been released individually before, but never together and never in their matching white tuxedos from Wolverine #8. If you’re a fan, this two-pack is a must-have. You can pre-order it from EE or Amazon.
One thing that makes me feel old is realizing that one of my favorite comic book covers from my youth, the legendary Wolverine #8 cover featuring Joe Fixit and Patch Wolverine in white tuxedos, is now 35 years old. This cover is from a Chris Claremont tale where Logan convinces Joe Fixit to help him on missions in Madripoor. It’s my favorite Wolverine and Hulk team-up, and I’m thrilled to see it turned into a toy. Last year, Walmart released an exclusive Marvel Legends Joe Fixit figure in a striped suit, which became one of my favorite figures of 2023. I didn’t expect to be excited about buying another gangster Hulk figure less than a year later, but here we are. This new figure is mostly the same as the previous one, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing because I loved it. Tuxedo-clad Joe Fixit feels much classier than gangster striped suit Joe Fixit. This Hulk is perfect for providing security at formal functions. He doesn’t have the ability to cross his arms like on the Wolverine #8 cover, but he does come with two new portraits and pin-less joints. The selling point of this set is the big, fancy-suited Gray Hulk that perfectly matches Wolverine.
Speaking of Wolverine, this figure represents one of the last versions of the character that I’d like to have in my collection. We previously got a Patch head as an accessory in the Wolverine motorcycle set, but this is the first time Hasbro is giving us a complete figure of Wolverine with the eyepatch. Marvel Legends Patch has a pin-less body that scales properly and comes with serious and grinning heads. It’s a great figure that complements the Hulk figure perfectly. The retail price for this set is $59.99, which is expected considering the larger Joe Fixit Hulk figure released at Walmart had a $10 up charge for its size. Compared to the $25 MSRP of normal figures and the $49.99 price of other Wolverine 50th Anniversary 2-packs, the $59.99 price-tag here is reasonable. I personally accept the price, even though I know some fans may be unhappy about it. The Wolverine Marvel Legends Wolverine Patch and Joe Fixit Hulk figures are available for pre-order now and will be released this spring. If you’re a Marvel collector, will you be adding this dapper duo to your display?
