Diamond Select Toys showcased a smaller collection of new Marvel collectibles at New York Comic Con 2024, causing some concern about the release of DST solicitations this month. Fortunately, there are new and highly sought-after items available for order, including a movie Select figure, animated busts of top villains, and a reissue of a store exclusive: Marvel Select Deadpool vs Wolverine Wolverine, Carnage X, and busts of Green Goblin and unhelmeted Magneto are now available!
Upon closer inspection, the new Marvel items from Diamond Select Toys at NYCC 2024 included X-Men Animated Magneto bust variant without a helmet and the previously canceled Spider-Man Animated Green Goblin bust.
During their Saturday panel, DST revealed concept designs for a Marvel Select Wolverine figure from Deadpool vs Wolverine, which generated significant interest. This figure, along with the two mini busts, are part of the new DST Marvel solicits for October 2024.
The most surprising addition to this month’s pre-orders was the reissued Green Goblin animated bust based on the 90s Spider-Man TAS. This bust was initially available for order in November 2022 but was later canceled. With the success of other mini busts in the Spider-Man and X-Men lines, fans had hoped for a revisit of the Green Goblin bust, and now it is finally available.
The design of the Green Goblin bust remains unchanged from the 2022 prototype, with its vibrant colors and detailed portrait making it a standout piece. With the success of other busts in the Spider-Man line, the Green Goblin bust is expected to perform well in terms of sales.
Another addition to the animated bust collection is a variant in the X-Men lineup: an unhelmeted Magneto. Given Magneto’s popularity, especially after X-Men 97, this bust is expected to be well-received by fans. The original Magneto bust sold out quickly, and this variant offers a fresh take on the character.
The newly-released items are available for order, including the movie Wolverine Select figure, which is expected to sell out quickly. Marvel collectors, what are your thoughts on these new additions from DST? Will any of these collectibles be making their way into your collection?
