A new report has now revealed that Microsoft made the decision to stop working on the game, despite 343 Industries wanting to continue. This explains the lack of updates and communication about the game since last July.

The report, from Rebs Gaming, suggests that Microsoft ended development on Halo: MCC last July due to the game not generating consistent revenue. Last June, 343 “explored” adding microtransactions, but the negative fan response led to the idea being scrapped. The timeline aligns with the report, indicating its potential accuracy.
