Despite the lack of information since its announcement in 2019, the next BioShock game is still in development, with developer 2K Cloud Chamber now “ramping up” by opening 30 new positions at the studio.
While BioShock 4 has not been officially named, and details about its premise or release date remain unknown, it is confirmed that Irrational Games, the team behind the previous BioShock games, is not involved in this installment. Instead, 2K Cloud Chamber, a new team to the series with some veteran BioShock developers, is leading the project.
Senior cinematic designer Jeff Spoonhower recently announced on LinkedIn that the team is working on an exciting project and is hiring in various disciplines including art, animation, engineering, design, narrative, and production.
Although details about the game are scarce, rumors suggest it may be set in a fictional Antarctic city in the 1960s. 2K Cloud Chamber aims to push the boundaries of the video game medium with this installment.
Meanwhile, Judas, a BioShock-like game developed by Ghost Story Games, is drawing inspiration from XCOM and Civilization to create a unique single-player narrative experience.
