Production has officially started on the second season of Poker Face.
Rian Johnson, the creator known for his work on Knives Out and Star Wars: The Last Jedi, announced the news on Instagram, sharing a post from the show’s new showrunner Tony Tost. Tost posted a picture of a clapperboard with the caption “Day one, season two, yesssssssss.”
Poker Face follows the story of Charlie, played by Natasha Lyonne, a casino waitress with a unique ability to detect lies. After a suspicious death and a confrontation with her boss (Adrien Brody) and his security guard (Benjamin Bratt), Charlie embarks on a journey across the US, solving mysteries along the way.
Similar to Columbo, each episode of Poker Face presents a “case-of-the-week” murder mystery, where the killer is often revealed early on, and the characters work to solve the crime.
The show features guest stars like Jameela Jamil, Lil Rel Howery, Dascha Polanco, Judith Light, Chloë Sevigny, Ron Perlman, Hong Chau, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
In Tost’s post, it was announced that Lyonne will be directing the second episode of season 2. Tost expressed his excitement about being part of the show he loves.
Poker Face season 1 can be streamed on Peacock in the US and NOW in the UK. Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming TV shows.
