Power Girl #8 follows the adventures of the Supergirl from Earth-2 as she tries to enjoy a day in the park learning how to roller-skate, only to be interrupted by Brainiac’s attack on Metropolis.
Is Power Girl #8 Worth Reading?
This issue falls short due to a combination of subpar writing by Leah Williams and a lack of understanding of Kryptonians by the art team. Both aspects contribute to the overall disappointment of this installment.
The story continues from the previous issue, where Power Girl and Supergirl thwarted a mad scientist’s plans in a fairytale land. Now, Power Girl spends time in the park with Omen, attempting to learn roller-skating. Amidst falls, sweating, and Omen’s reckless use of powers in public, the conversation shifts to romantic interests, specifically Power Girl’s potential attraction to Axel.
An exchange of flirty texts between Power Girl and Axel is interrupted by Brainiac’s sudden attack on the city, leading to chaos and conflict.
Meanwhile, a group of Czarnians plans to cause havoc on Earth using stolen Brainiac tech.
