Lois Lane is one of the few comic book characters that can actually be considered a household name. Taking on that role is a big ask for any actor, and Rachel Brosnahan is well aware of this.
Brosnahan is making the rounds of the awards shows right now, and while appearing at the Critics Choice Awards, she was asked about preparing to play Lois in Superman: Legacy.
“We have big shoes to fill, but we’re excited to try to fill them,” said Brosnahan. “You know, I think the best part about working on this has been the top to bottom, from James to Peter Safran and everyone to DC and David [Corenswet]. We’re all just nerds for this stuff. And there’s so much love and care that’s being taken to make this film with a film that honors the source material and also is, you know, justifies making another one.”
Lois has been appearing with Superman in live-action productions as far back as the 1940s, so there is quite a legacy for her to live up to.
The cast is set to include David Corenswet as Superman, and Brosnahan as Lois Lane. They will all be joined by Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and María Gabriela de Faría as the Engineer.
With filming slated to begin in March, and numerous other roles to still be announced, there are sure to be more announcements in the coming weeks.
Superman: Legacy will hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
