Resident Evil is now available on PC, with Resident Evil 2 and 3 coming soon.
Capcom has officially released the original Resident Evil on PC through GOG, following a recent leak. The game can be purchased for $9.99, or as part of a bundle with the sequels for $24.99. While the release dates for Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis have not been announced, GOG plans to have them available before the end of 2024.
The versions of Resident Evil games on GOG are based on the original Windows 95 releases, with some modern improvements for compatibility with Windows 10 and 11. Players can use a variety of modern controllers, and cutscenes can now be skipped. However, the video quality may be a bit rough, running at around 10 fps compared to smoother gameplay.
There is no confirmation yet on whether these games will be released on consoles. Fans have expressed excitement for the original versions to be available again, in addition to the current remakes. For now, the games can be purchased exclusively through GOG.
