Capcom is continuing its Resident Evil remake series with Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica.
Initially, rumors about Capcom remaking Zero and Code Veronica started circulating among leakers. IGN has now confirmed these rumors, stating that both the 2000 and 2002 games will be remade as part of Capcom’s upcoming projects.
Code Veronica was the first of the two older Resident Evil games to be released, coming out for the Dreamcast in 2000. It follows Chris and Claire Redfield on a new adventure on a remote island. The remastered version of Code Veronica is currently available on PS4 and Xbox One.
Resident Evil Zero was released two years later in 2002 for the GameCube. This prequel to the original Resident Evil introduces new characters Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen, who find themselves on a train filled with zombies.
Having explored Capcom’s history, Resident Evil Zero is considered the more accessible game, while Code Veronica is seen as needing a remake. This news is welcomed as Capcom is revisiting older, lesser-known Resident Evil titles rather than focusing solely on the main series.
