PlayStation’s latest exclusive isn’t receiving much praise.
Reviews for PlayStation’s new PS5 exclusive Rise of the Ronin are now available online, giving us an insight into how the game is being received critically. Despite a strong lineup of exclusives such as Helldivers 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and The Last of Us Part II Remastered, it seems that Rise of the Ronin is falling short of expectations.
Currently, Rise of the Ronin has an aggregate score of 76/100 on Metacritic based on 94 reviews. This places it as the 50th best-reviewed game of 2024 so far, indicating that the game may not be leaving a lasting impression. Our own review on ComicBook.com aligns with this sentiment, stating, “There is nothing particularly special about Rise of the Ronin. Despite drawing inspiration from popular games like Ghost of Tsushima, Assassin’s Creed, and Dark Souls, it fails to offer anything truly unique and feels like a budget imitation.”
Sony has more exclusives lined up for release on the PS5 in 2024, including Stellar Blade from Shift Up and Concord from Firewalk Studios. While details on future releases are yet to be announced, it’s likely that PlayStation will reveal more in the coming weeks.
