Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection is facing challenges in its initial launch.
The Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. However, it has received mixed reviews. While Metacritic scores range from 79 to 83, indicating a generally positive reception, the game has a Mostly Negative rating on Steam. Only 21 percent of the 1,407 user reviews so far have been positive. One of the main issues contributing to this negative feedback is severe server problems. Additionally, some players are unable to play due to a missing feature.
Specifically, players who invert the Y-axis for the camera are unable to play the game as there is no option to change this setting. It is unclear why this feature was omitted, and there is no information on whether it will be addressed in the future. This is not the first time developer Aspyr has faced backlash for omitting this feature, as a similar issue occurred with the launch of Jedi Knight 2. However, the impact is more significant this time as the new collection is focused on multiplayer gameplay, and delays in fixing this issue may result in a loss of player base.
As of now, Aspyr has not responded to these concerns. It is uncertain how these problems will affect sales, but pre-order data suggests that the game will still sell well. Despite its current challenges, the iconic nature of these games ensures a lasting appeal, especially to casual players who may not be aware of the issues the game is currently facing.
