Andrew “Redigit” Spinks, the creator of Terraria, has casually extended a job offer to the developers of one of Terraria’s most popular mods.
Calamity is a massive Terraria mod that introduces extensive endgame content, numerous new enemies and boss fights, over 1,000 new items, challenging difficulty modes, five new biomes and structures, a new class, more than 40 new songs, over 50 new recipes, and various enhancements to existing content as well as brand-new additions. It is arguably the largest mod available for the long-standing sandbox game, and now its creators have the opportunity to collaborate with the mastermind behind the original game.
“Yo @CalamityModTeam, who among you would like to work for @ReLogicGames and receive payment for your contributions?” Spinks tweeted recently.

There is a history of video game modders transitioning to official developers within studios, with a notable recent example being the creator of the top mod for Stardew Valley collaborating with Eric Barone on update 1.6.
It is unclear if Spinks’ tweet was a genuine job offer, but it would not be unprecedented. Spinks previously mentioned to the mod team that he planned to hire “your sound guy” after Calamity’s soundtrack outranked the base game on a list of the best video game music.
In a humorous exchange, one of Calamity’s developers, known as @Shayy_TV on Twitter, responded to Spinks’ tweet by stating, “I don’t have a resume, but I manage the @CalamityModTeam account and create entertaining videos!” However, Spinks jokingly replied, “ChatGPT is very user-friendly,” and pointed out that their “fatal error” was only recently following his Twitter account. The official Calamity account then joined the conversation, suggesting that they had followed Spinks before he followed them, resulting in a stalemate.
Recently, the Terraria creator introduced a new refund policy: defeat him in PvP solo and receive a refund “for any reason, no questions asked”.
