For the time being, we do suggest taking this with a grain of salt, but it would make a lot of sense. When films do this, it allows the budget to be shared far more easily between the two films as they will be able to share sets, costumes, crew, and more. It would also reduce the delay between the two films be a considerable amount, while also allowing Matt Reeves to craft a more interconnected narrative.
The Batman was released on March 4, 2022 and went on to earn $772.2 million globally from a budget estimated to be around $200 million. Being able to cut that budget number and distribute it between two films would go a long way to increasing the profitability of the franchise.
The Batman: Part II is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 2, 2026.
