Welcome back to Upcoming Comics! DC recently announced their Summer event for 2024, and the wording has me a bit concerned. It seems like events are becoming more frequent, with Absolute Power set to take over Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman for three months. It feels like events are happening so often that they are losing their impact. Each title only has about 12 issues a year, so losing some to big crossovers can be significant. Let’s dial it back a bit, shall we?
In Detective Comics #1082, Batman’s journey through a desert between worlds continues to pose new dangers. Meanwhile, Gotham is thriving in a strange Utopia where the public is being hypnotized into believing Batman never existed. The question arises – did Gotham ever really need Batman?
Batman: The Brave and the Bold #10 brings back Gotham Academy in a thrilling three-part Batman adventure, featuring Kirk Langstrom, aka Man-Bat, and a conspiracy that only Lois Lane could solve.
The Penguin #7 explores the dramatic change in the relationship between Batman and the Penguin, setting the stage for a showdown between the two.
In Harley Quinn #37, the multiverse is in chaos, and Harley is on a mission to set things right with the help of some clown girl artist extraordinaires.
Beyond the Bat takes a look at other DC comics coming out this week, and Graphic Novel Watch highlights the bat collections hitting shelves.
Overall, it’s an exciting week for DC comics, with Detective Comics #1082 being a standout for many fans. Let us know in the comments which comics you’re most looking forward to!
