Welcome back to another installment of Indie Comics Showcase, the weekly blog where we highlight independent comics that are currently seeking funding, either through crowdfunding or self-publishing. We believe that every bit of support for these creators is important, whether it’s a small pledge or a larger contribution. Even if you can’t financially support these projects, you can still help by sharing them with your friends and followers.
In this week’s showcase, we have some outstanding crowdfunding campaigns for you to check out. We’ll be interviewing the creators, showing off some art, and providing information on how you can get involved. So let’s jump right in!
First up, we have Dragon Riders of Osnen, a comic adaptation of a series of books written by Richard Fierce. The story follows a young man with a disability who aspires to become a dragon rider. But before he can achieve his dream, he must pass three tests to prove his worthiness. This fantasy comic is suitable for all ages, as it is clean and free of explicit content. The main artist for the project is Nimesh Niyomal, a talented artist from Sri Lanka who has previously worked on book cover art for Richard Fierce. The first issue is almost complete, with the final touches of lettering being added before it goes to print.
Next, we have 1000 Blades, a medieval Japanese themed trading card game created by Nate Lindle. This strategy game features over 100 unique cards and six playable characters, allowing players to customize their decks with different warriors and equipment. The objective of the game is to either reduce your opponent’s HP to zero or deplete their deck of cards. 1000 Blades is best enjoyed by fans of games like Magic the Gathering and Pokemon, and is suitable for ages 12 and up. Nate Lindle has been self-publishing under his Ashcan Comics Pub label for several years, and 1000 Blades is his latest project. The game is complete and ready to be played, while the accompanying comic is still in production.
Lastly, we have Planet Glonn, a comic created by Jesse Snider. The story takes place on a matriarchal paradise called Planet Glonn, where procreation was achieved through cloning. However, they now face extinction and need to find a new way to survive. Jesse Snider decided to self-publish this comic as a response to the prevalence of sexually explicit content in the industry. He wanted to offer something different and elevate the genre. Planet Glonn is aimed at adult readers with a sense of humor, and Jesse believes that both sides of the political spectrum will enjoy it.
That wraps up this week’s Indie Comics Showcase. We hope you enjoyed learning about these projects and consider supporting them. Remember, even if you can’t financially contribute, sharing these campaigns with your friends and followers can make a big difference. Thanks for being a part of Indie Comics Showcase, and stay tuned for more great independent comics in the future!
