Welcome back to another installment of Indie Comics Showcase, the weekly blog where we highlight a few truly independent comics that are currently crowdfunding their projects, crowdsourcing their funding in some way, or self-publishing on their own. It’s important to support these creators, whether through a small pledge or by sharing their projects with others. In this edition of Indie Comics Showcase, we have some exciting crowdfunding campaigns for you to check out and support. Let’s dive in!
First up, we have “The Sigmas” by Adam Torres. This comic follows the story of Kaede Ibaraki, a high school girl who starts experiencing strange urges and sinister impulses. When she looks in the mirror, she doesn’t just see her reflection ā€“ she sees a monster. Kaede is literally possessed by an Oni, and she must navigate her new reality. Alongside Kaede, we also follow Frank Williams, a young man at the same school who has his own powerful awakening. The paths of Kaede and Frank are destined to collide in a violent encounter at their school. “The Sigmas” is a full-color, 60+ page comic filled with action, drama, and cute girls. It’s aimed at males aged 15+ but can be enjoyed by anyone. Adam has been developing these characters for almost a decade, and he’s excited to bring their story to life in comic book form. The creative team behind this project includes artist Gen006 and letterer JerkDouglas. The comic is currently halfway done and is expected to be completed by March.
Next, we have “Age of End” by Tim Tyler. Based on the Biblical Book of Revelation, “Age of End” tells the story of Penni, a 16-year-old Goth with a special gift, and her scientist friend as they try to survive the final six months of a world gone mad. This comic is suited for readers who enjoy fantasy, sci-fi, and apocalyptic survival stories. It may also appeal to faith-based comic fans, although it does contain some violent content. Tim is a 40-year veteran of the independent comics scene and has a passion for creating detailed black and white artwork. He has completed the first issue of “Age of End” and plans to continue the series for a maximum of 12 issues. Tim has learned a lot about crowdfunding through his 20 successful campaigns since 2015.
Lastly, we have “Apollyon 20XX” by Daniel Evans. Set in the near future, this comic explores a world where global elites have harnessed the power of an alien metal to control all life on Earth. Only a small group of Augments, individuals infected by the same metal, stand in their way. “Apollyon 20XX” is 175 pages of black and white action. The comic was inspired by recent events and the willingness of people to give up their rights in the face of fear. Daniel and artist Josh Adams believe in the punk ethos of self-publishing and keeping prices low for customers. They describe the style of the comic as Orwell meets Claremont and aim to challenge and embrace readers aged 13 and above. The creative team behind “Apollyon 20XX” consists of Daniel as the writer and Josh as the artist, with constant communication throughout the production process.
That wraps up this edition of Indie Comics Showcase. Be sure to check out these crowdfunding campaigns and support these independent creators. Remember, every little bit of support matters, from a small pledge to sharing the projects with your friends and followers. Thanks for being the best part of Indie Comics Showcase!
