Welcome back to another installment of Indie Comics Showcase, the weekly blog where we shine a spotlight on truly independent comics that are currently crowdfunding their projects, crowdsourcing their funding, or self-publishing. Every bit of support for these creators matters, whether it’s a small pledge or purchasing a bundle. Even if you can’t contribute financially, you can still help by sharing or tweeting about these projects to your friends and followers.
In this edition of Indie Comics Showcase, we’re featuring two outstanding crowdfunding campaigns that you should check out and consider supporting. We’ll be interviewing the creators, showing off some art, and telling you how you can get your hands on their work.
First up is “The Hollow Raven” by Lynsey Leigh. This thought-provoking tale of terror is filled with rich storytelling and finely detailed artwork that brings the pages to life. Set in a world ruled by beasts of prey, the citizens of the lost lands are mysteriously vanishing. Those who remain are stalked by Watchers of the day and hunted down by Creatures of the night. Follow the nightmare and discover what will become of those who are forced to live in this terrifying reality.
We had the chance to interview Lynsey about her comic and learn more about her creative process. She shared her love for the horror genre and how her interest in Victorian aesthetics, poetry, riddles, and plague doctors inspired the story. “The Hollow Raven” is a character-driven horror story that spans across multiple genres, including psychological, mystery, crime-thriller, action, science fiction, monster horror, supernatural, and heroic elements. It’s atmospheric and filled with poetry and riddles that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Next, we have “Finale” by Travis Corwin. Set in the aftermath of an apocalyptic event, the story follows Ása, a lone woman on a dangerous mission to deliver a mysterious message. But when a figure from her past threatens the mission, she must decide how far she’s willing to go in the name of hope. “Finale” is a 28-page one-shot comic filled with twisty, Twilight Zone-esque revelations and moral quandaries that will keep you guessing long after you finish reading.
We sat down with Travis to discuss his inspiration behind the story and his decision to self-publish. He shared how the questions of what kind of art people need in times of crisis led him to create “Finale.” While it is a standalone story, it’s also part of a larger universe of interconnected stories that Travis has been building up over the years. Self-publishing allowed him to realize his complete vision for “Finale” and future releases without compromise.
Both “The Hollow Raven” and “Finale” are unique and captivating comics that deserve your support. If you’re a fan of horror, mystery, and thrilling storytelling, these projects are perfect for you. Consider backing them and help these talented creators bring their visions to life. Remember, every little bit of support matters.
Thanks for joining us for this edition of Indie Comics Showcase. We hope you enjoyed learning about these amazing projects and will consider supporting them. Stay tuned for more indie comics spotlights in the future.
