About the Book:
This book deals with the very sensitive subject of mental illness, and one person’s journey to discover what that illness is and how to help combat it.
Reviewer’s Notes:
Illness is a trickery thing, some are physical, they have an appearance. You can look at someone and instantly see what issue they themselves are dealing with and know what to do with or for that person. Others are not so much. Mental illness is not the be all say all classification either. In some cases there are neurological disorders caused by experience, or even DNA, like PTSD and Autism.
Living with 3 other people who have their own mental issues ( 2 with Depression and 1 with Autism ) I have learned to maneuver my way around the good days and the bad days. So I can relate to the other side of the coin in terms of the reaction by those who suffer from them.
This particular story covers “Cyclothymia” which is a form of bipolar disorder. Like other various mental illnesses, there are varying stages. I love how this book deals with this particular one.
This book is a wonderful representation of the mental illness it is trying to convey. I love how it gets around all the psycho babble and makes the reader understand what it really is in a way that makes sense.
The cover artwork is simple and to the point. Showing the fox both in the light and in the dark. Much like the monster that is mental illness, sometimes knowing about it is in the light, other times the knowledge of it is covered in darkness leaving the person suffering to wonder what is really going on. So I like the symbolism that is portrayed.
The interior artwork is well done. Simple yet to the point. It doesn’t distract from the story being told, in fact in the same cases it conveys the details the writer is trying to convey better than if it had more detail.
This book is definitely something that should be read by those who can relate or know someone afflicted by the issue. It just might help someone discover what is really going on, and allow them the best way to see knowledge and or help.
When dealing with issues such as these, keep in mind there is always and I do mean always a person willing to help or listen. If you or someone you know is dealing with suicidal thoughts please text 988 on your phone to get the help needed!
