About the Book:
Starting off on a rainy day we meet a soldier sitting alone. When he is picked up by an unknown person or group, the very next shot is when the soldier is in a plane as they head for a war zone. When the soldier drops down into a war zone he is fighting what appears to be an elite military unit. As the fighting continues we discover that the soldier is in fact immortal.
As they continue going through the war zone we start to see a conversation between two people as they go back and forth. Only to discover that the conversation is between an immortal soldier and a counselor, who appears to be trying to help him.
Reviewer’s Notes:
This story is an interesting one. It follows someone who has lived for a very long time. While seeking help to essentially become a mortal person he has become a living weapon. Assisting an elite military unit on their missions.
I think the story has a lot of merit, as there has always been the thought of what would happen if you were immortal. To be able to see the future and live past what would be a normal life span. But that can also be a mixed bag as you watch everyone around you, who is important in your life, leave the living world while you remain.
The cover itself is designed to shock the imagination. It is outstanding to look at, and it shows the hero of the story walking out of a red mist with things sticking out of him that would normally drop someone. Yet here he is walking undaunted by them. I like that it shows the hero character this way, as it makes you wonder what kind of person that the hero character is, what he is going through and what he has gone through to get to this point. It is definitely something to inspire the imagination!
The interior artwork is just as outstanding as the cover, showing all the gruesome details in perfect appearance, but not so much that it takes away from the story. The attention to detail with its crisp lines show the reader exactly what the story is trying to convey and makes the reader feel the pressure of the main character as he makes his way through the story.
This is definitely a story that makes one think about the price of immortality and what one is willing to go through to reverse being immortal yet, still not answer the question of whether or not being immortal is worth it. But as the story unfolds only time will tell.
